Need a little help in picking music for your wedding? We have compiled a list of music which is most commonly used and requested by our clients. Remember to take your time picking out the songs for your special day and start early!!! According to Brides Magazine, most people will change their song selections four or more times before the actual reception. For help on ceremony, first dance, and wedding party songs, look on the "Wedding song links" section to your left in the blue margin.
Do Not Play Songs First off...Tell your DJ the music you do not want played! If you know a song that may remind someone of a lost love (especially the bride or groom) or a deceased spouse, be sure to tell the DJ BEFORE the event. Other examples of "Do not play" songs can include... Hard-core rap (2 live crew, Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre...ect) Hard rock (Ozzy, Metallica...ect) Songs with swearing (any style) Songs with a sexual theme or make references to sex Certain crowd dances (Chicken dance, Macarena, Electric Slide) Some people will tell us that if there is a request for a song that the DJ feel is questionable, to check with the bride or groom before playing it. It should be noted that many songs played at receptions are played based on requests from your guests. If you know of someone on your guest list that loves a type of music that you do not want played, ask them before the reception not to request it. Most times, they will understand better hearing a "No" from you, rather that the DJ.
Bridal Party Introductions Jock Jams - Mega mix Jock Jams - Lets Get Ready to Rumble Pink – I’m Coming Up Jock Jams – Monday Night Football Theme All of these songs are of a fast paced beat which is designed to get the crowd involved in the excitement. Choose music which best fits your bridal party's age and style.
Dinner Music John Tesh (piano renditions of classic top 40 songs form the 80's & 90's) Kenny G (saxophone) Jim Brickman (piano)
Jazz
(old style dinner music) When selecting dinner music, it is best to consider the type of crowd you have. A younger crowd (18-45) will usually enjoy John Tesh or Jazz style music; while an older crowd (45+) may enjoy Kenny G or Jim Brickman. If you are planning on having a Christmas wedding (December 1st through 30th), Christmas songs may also be a good choice. Remember, the dinner music is designed to be played in a low volume in the background while your guests eat and have conversation. Its best to avoid songs which contain words and instead have them played during the "dancing" time.
Cake Cutting Weird Al - Eat It John Norris - The Bride Cuts the Cake Brian White & Shania Twain - From This Moment James Taylor - How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You) Pat Benatar - Hit Me With Your Best Shot Aerosmith - I Don't Want to Miss A Thing Sonny & Cher - I Got You Babe Peter Gabriel - In Your Eyes John Michael Montgomery - I Swear Harry Connick, Jr - It Had To Be You Faith Hill and Tim McGraw - It's Your Love Frank Sinatra - Love and Marriage John Williams - Main theme from "Jaws" Harry Connick Jr. - Recipe For Love The Archies - Sugar Sugar Dean Martin - That's Amore Herb Alpert - This Guy's In Love With You Righteous Brothers - Unchained Melody Nat King Cole - Unforgettable Frank Sinatra - Way You Look Tonight Beatles - When I'm Sixty-Four Choosing a cake cutting song does not have to be difficult. If you had a hard time choosing between 2 songs for your first or final dance; its best to go with your second choice as a cake cutting song. Some people choose not to have any music played and some like to keep the dinner selection playing in the background. Any of the above selections will usually fit well in the moment.
